Martha was born in Covington County, Mississippi and lived with her parents, Thelma Allene Leggett and Alton Lamont Leggett, and her brother Dale Leggett. She spent most of her school years in Mississippi, except for her senior year in High School, when they lived in Georgia.
Martha went to school at Jones County Junior College in Ellisville, Mississippi and then on to the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, earning a degree in Elementary Education.
Martha taught school in Houston ISD and Klein ISD for 35 years before retiring. She then decided to go back to work and taught another 13 years. She loved being in the classroom teaching children. Martha spent her time off reading and enjoying her grandkids.
Martha leaves behind 3 children, Jan Hartman, Donna Moninghoff and Michael Calhoun, 5 grandchildren, Lene Shaunfield, Clayton Wilson, Caitlin Curtis, Ryan Moninghoff, and Tiffany Kelley, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
A visitation for Martha will be held Monday, December 16, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384. A funeral service will occur from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM to be followed by a committal service 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM.
