Marjorie L Gleason, 89 of Spring, Texas passed away on Saturday April 20, 2019 at The Village of Gleannloch Farms Skilled Nursing facility. Her three sons stayed close to her the week of her passing. She was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on September 22, 1929, the daughter of Merton and Florence (Mead) Tanner.
Marjorie graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1947 and went on to Lansing Secretarial School. She then went to work for the State of Michigan.
She was married to William E Gleason on February 7th, 1953 at Lansing, Michigan whom she met while working at the Elk Lake Inn near Traverse City. They were married for 53 years until his passing in 2006. In addition to living in multiple locations in southern Michigan they also lived in Madison, Wisconsin and Beverly Hills, Florida.
She was an avid bridge player and genealogist writing and self-publishing a book describing her life and family heritage. She was most notably known for knitting mittens, hats and scarfs for disadvantage children, accounting for hundreds of Christmas gifts.
She was preceded in death by her parents Merton and Florence Tanner, her husband William Gleason, and her older brother Leo Tanner. She is survived by her three sons; William (Cynthia), Gary (Lai) and Donald (Karen) Gleason. She had five grandchildren; Cheryl (Jesse) Gomez, Steven Gleason, Danial (Ryan) Hale-Gleason, Karl Gleason, and Georgia Gleason. She also had four great grandchildren; Dustin, Claire, and William Gomez; and Oksana Gleason. She is also survived by her younger brother Murl (Leteshia) Tanner.
Private services for the family will be held in San Antonio, Texas and Charlotte, Michigan where she will be laid to rest near her mother and father.
