Karen retired as a registered psychiatric nurse. She enjoyed sailing, traveling, working on crossword puzzles, baking cakes, cooking a meal to share and just spending quality time with those she loved.
Her emphasis for life was on relationship and, as such, her greatest joy was her grandchildren--she would spend hours just watching and playing with them and being a part of their lives.
In 1985, at sunset on San Francisco Bay, Karen married the love of her life, Tony Potter. In 1999, after raising their children in The Woodlands, they moved to Conroe.
As a couple, for the past 25 years, they were active in Worldwide Marriage Encounter and ministered to couples all over the country. They are members of STS Simon & Jude Catholic Church and active in several ministries of the church. Karen was an eager volunteer who would never say “No.” She was very involved with the community in which she lived; serving as president of the homeowners association for one term, and being the organizer for many community social events.
Karen is survived by her husband, Tony Potter; son, Matt Krasney and his wife Michelle; daughter, Melanie Morgan; son, Marc Krasney and his partner, Chris Gray; five granddaughters and two grandsons; Jonathan Coyle, Courtney and Kristin Krasney, Brianna and Katelynn Morgan, and Zane and Hazel Gray.
She is also survived by one sister, Carol (Ernie) Martelli, Yardley, PA and four brothers; Richard (Mary) Allaire, Sandy Hook, CT; Robert Allaire, Jarrell, TX; Howard Jr., Trenton, NJ and Paul, Timber Lake, NC.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her illness, especially the staff at Chateau Woodlands, where she was a resident for the past six months, and Vitas Hospice. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Worldwide Marriage Encounter (online at wwme.org). Arrangements were provided by Forrest Park The Woodlands and St. Simon & Jude Catholic Church. A wake service with rosary will be held at Forest Park the Woodlands Funeral Home on Friday, January 8, 2016 from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at STS Simon & Jude on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 am.
