James Dupree Wofford, Jr., 61 years old of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away, January 6, 2018. He was born in Pasadena, Texas, on February 2, 1956. Jim graduated from South Houston High School, class of ’74 and received his B.A. in Architecture from The University of Houston. He was married to Rebecca Lee Wofford on July 27, 1979.
Jim had a long and successful career in architecture and design management. He began his career with Houston Lighting and Power, Compaq, and Hewlett Packard. He was involved in project management of hundred-million dollar developments in the United States, Costa Rica, Canada, and Panama. Some of his clients included; Exxon Mobil, JLL, HP, HL & P, General Motors, Disney, American Airlines, CIBC, Halliburton, TD Bank of Canada, and Valero. Most recently he was flourishing as The Executive Director of Facilities and Construction at The University of Houston.
Jim was an active and longtime member of American Institute of Architecture (AIA) and The Woodlands Church. Jim’s father was the founding member of Lake Livingston Estates POA. Jim carried on his father’s principles as treasurer and President. Recently Jim was honored with the Lifetime Directors Club Committee at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He had a passion for his children and grandchildren, his church, cars, sports, rodeo, music, the outdoors, funny jokes, fitness, movies, and working on his lake house in Livingston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by Rebecca Lee Wofford, wife, of Pasadena; Father, James D. Wofford, Sr.; and mother, Eva M. Wofford, of Livingston, Texas.
He is survived by his son, Jason Wofford and fiancé, Mireya Reyes of Houston, Texas; daughter, Jamie Lee Cooper and son-in-law, Justin Cooper of Houston, Texas, with beloved grandchildren, Jackson (5 years) and Macie (4 years) Cooper; girlfriend whom he planned to spend the rest of his life with, Tami Greggerson, along with her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly Greggerson and Nick Guidry; and granddaughter, Tylee Greggerson
Flowers can be delivered to the Chapel at The Woodlands Church, 1 Fellowship Drive, the Woodlands, Texas, on Wednesday morning. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at The Woodlands Church. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Grand View Memorial Park Cemetery in Pasadena, Texas, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
The family will also be arranging a few organizations to donate to in Jim’s honor in lieu of flowers.
