Diane was born on June 2, 1951, to Bill and Ethel Skeates in Chicago, Illinois. She spent her childhood in the Chicago area. Diane was a graduate of Aquinas High School in 1969, and she received her BS from Purdue University in 1973.
While at Purdue, Diane met her husband Ed Hanley in 1970; they were married on May 12, 1973, and became lifelong companions. Following graduation Diane worked as a nuclear medical technician in Lafayette, Indiana while Ed attended graduate school and she continued her career afterword in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Diane and Ed went on to be blessed with four children together, all born in Tulsa.
In the following years, the family relocated to Houston, Bakersfield, Qatar, Bahrain and Colombia with a few stops back in Tulsa and Houston. While in California, Diane earned her teaching credentials and enjoyed a second career teaching mathematics and science in Bakersfield, Doha and Bahrain. Diane always viewed the moves as an adventure and opportunity to find new friends and experience different cultures. She was recognized as a talented, caring teacher as well as a kind and giving person who had a positive impact on many lives. Diane had a great sense of humor and was always fun to be with. She enjoyed Sunday drives, movies, music, theater, restaurants, shopping, house hunting, decorating and visiting new places, especially with friends.
Diane is survived by Ed, son Chris Hanley and wife Melissa, son Bryan Hanley and wife Kasie, daughter Keri Robbins and husband Aaron, son Colin Hanley, nine grandchildren: Noah, Cole, Elle, Leah, Annabelle, Emily, Ben, Milo and Kyli, and sister Deborah Burns and husband Jim. She was preceded in death by her parents.
