Margaret Lyndell Rhoads

Margie was a graduate of North Texas State University in Denton, Texas, which is where she met her future husband, Wayne Rhoads of Alvord, Texas. She was also a graduate of Perkins School of Theology at SMU, where she received a Master's degree in Theological studies. She taught high school English and History for several years in Arlington, Texas. She taught Philosophy and Introduction to Ethics at Texarkana College for 5 years. She was co-owner of WAYMAR Oil and Gas Company, along with Wayne for 26 years.

She was a member of the American Association of University Women for 25 years. She served as elder and teacher at Trinity Presbyterian Church and First Presbyterian Church in Grand Prairie, Texas and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Texarkana, Arkansas,where she was the teacher of the Contemporary Studies Class for many years.

Margie and Wayne married on September 7, 1957 in Texarkana, Texas and shared 63 wonderful years together.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Rhoads, parents Frank and Margaret Blankenship, sister and brother-in-law Virginia and Wilson Sanderson, father and mother-in-law Joe and Tressie Rhoads, sister-in-law Wanda Rhoads Boase, nephew Frank Sanderson and niece Margaret Sanderson.

Margie is survived by nieces Paula Bertelson, Connie Bradam, Teresa (Terri) Henderson, Cindy Boase and Laura Jumel.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22nd, 2022 at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Diane Brown officiating. Burial under the direction of East Funeral Home-Downtown.
