She graduated from Camden High School and attended SAU on a music scholarship.
She loved music and played piano, French horn, recorder, harmonica, and spoons. She loved singing in the choir and playing handbells at First United Methodist Church, Texarkana, AR.
She never met a stranger, always had a smile, was outgoing, witty and adventurous. She loved planning a party, spending time with friends and family or working in the garden. She was a avid Razorbacks fan.
Linda moved to Houston, TX where she worked as secretary to the CEO of United Gas and retired as Director of Purchasing and Administration from Reliant Energy (CenterPoint). She was involved in many organizations, such as Campaign Coordinator for United Way, President of the Shepherd Park Plaza Civic Club in Houston, TX. Served as Co-Chair of the National Customer Postal Customer Council, South and Chairman of Southern Gas Association Round Table Conference. She was member of the Engineers Club of Houston.After retirement she moved to Vermont where she made many friends and served on the board of the Eleva Chamber Orchestra, sang in church choir and played handbells.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Salita Rogers, her sister, Suzanne Hicks, nephew Chad Lawless, brother and sister-in-law Bill and Betty Rogers.
Left to cherish her memory, brother-in-law Weldon Hicks, niece Shanon and husband Mykle Morris, nephew Jeremy Irby and wife Stevie, of Sugarland, TX. Her nieces Ann White, Texarkana, AR, Judy and husband Mike Payne of Bella Vista, AR, Nephews Ronnie and wife Donna, Bill Jr. and wife Laura of Texarkana, AR, Numerous other nieces, nephews and friends. Fur babies Phoebe, Molly, and her extended family.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 21, 2-4pm, East Funeral Home Downtown, Texarkana, TX.
Graveside service, Monday July 22, 11am, Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia, AR. Rev. Jaimie Alexander officiating.
