Gloria Joyce Mitchell passed away Sunday, October 6. She was born September 20, 1940 in Texarkana to CW and Ethel Vanderslice. She graduated from Arkansas High and went onto graduate from Henderson State and East Texas State. Joyce was a life long educator with Pleasant Grove ISD.
Once retired, she enjoyed traveling with Larry Sims and the First Baptist church travel group. She always loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and family. She was cared for in the last few months by wonderful lady, Katie Willett and companion Art Spencer.
She was proceeded in death by her husband of 51 years, Albert Mitchell.
She is survived by Kelly and Lisa Mitchell, Clay and Charlotte Mitchell, and Jenifer and Kelly Joyner. She also survived by nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at East Funeral Home-Moores Lane officiated by Joe Stark. Visitation will be 2 to 3:00 pm held an hour prior to the service.
