Mr. Stewart was born June 28, 1931 in Groesbeck, Texas. He honorably served in the United States Air Force for 21 years. During this time, he served in Vietnam and retired at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant in 1970. He then began his second career working for International Service Insurance Company in Ft. Worth, Texas. He loved his daily walks with his beloved pets, had a vast knowledge of sports and life, and always had a wise word to say. Bill enjoyed watching horse racing, sports to include Texas football and golf, especially when a Texan won the Masters in 2022, and listening to the music of Wille Nelson, Count Basie, and Ray Price. He loved spending time with family and was an honorable and resilient spirit that will live in our hearts forever.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Annie Stewart, James Davis and Nettie Pearl Pollock, father and mother, Travis and Velma Stewart, first wife, June Stewart, one son-in-law, Donald Johns, and cherished labrador retriever, "Red".
Left to cherish his memory include his loving partner of 32 years, Sandra Fisher of Texarkana, TX. One daughter, Debi Johns of Dripping Springs, TX. Five grandchildren, Joshua Johns and wife, Alicia of Wimberly, TX, Susan Wooten and husband Michael of Cottonwood, TX, Doyle (Bud) Johns and wife Crystal of Driftwood, TX, Shellie Pinto and husband Chris of Sugarland, TX, Missie Jansky and husband RJ of Elgin, TX, and 13 great-grandchildren. One brother, Travis D. Stewart and wife Cheryl of Mexia, TX. Nephews and nieces, Lonnie Stewart and wife Shelly of Mexia, TX, Betty Ann Rusnak and husband John of Mexia, TX, Michael Stewart and wife Kelly of Virginia Beach, VA, and Linda North of Garland, TX. 12 great-nephews and nieces, five great-great-nephews and nieces, and one great-great-great nephew.
Left to cherish his memory include his extended family, Todd Jones and wife Lori of De Queen, AR, Suzanne Weems of Texarkana, TX, and Chris Jones of Allen, TX. His grandchildren, 1st Lt Zach Stone and wife MSgt Carrie of Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Ashley Weems of Texarkana, TX, Madelyn Jones, Madison Graham and Ellye Chilcoat of De Queen, AR, Kendyl Provence and husband Doug of Cove, AR, and eight great-grandchildren. A dear sister-in-law, Beverly Stone, who was very special to him. Loyal four-legged companion, "Sammy".
Also, a very special friend and caregiver, Harold Irving.
Bill had a large wonderful family in many different locations that he thought of and talked about a lot. He loved them all dearly.
Committal Service with Military Honors will be held at 3pm at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early and park in Lane 1.
