He was born December 1, 1934 in Shreveport, LA to MacFarland Allen "Mac" and Lucille Brown Riley.
Allen was a member of Williams Memorial United Methodist Church, a 32nd Degree Mason, attended Kemper Military School and Louisiana State University, and was an Eagle Scout.
In his early years, Allen worked as a measurement tech and corrosion engineer for Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation. Later he became the co-owner of the House of Luggage and then the Art Works. Allen was very active in his church, where he was a member for 46 years- a member of the Brass Quintet, attended The Gleaner's Sunday School Class, and a member of the choir. Allen was also a member of the Second Time Around Band. He loved his family, jazz music, and fishing at Kelly Creek.
Allen was preceded in death by his first wife, Maricelia Pepper and second wife, Martha Erb
his parents, and his sister, Mary Christian Harris.
He is survived by his children: Diane and Tom Lester of Lowell, AR, Lee Ann and Buddy McCulloch of Texarkana, TX, Bill and Melissa Riley of Olive Branch, MS, Sherilyn and Rusty Cotten of Texarkana, TX and Ben Henry of Sachse, TX; his grandchildren David, Brian and Laura, Chris and Jillian, Cecily and Holly, Jennifer and Whitney, Meredith and Tyler, and 14 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, March 1st from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at East Funeral Home-Moores Lane. The funeral service will be Saturday, March 2nd at 3 p.m. at Williams Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Brad Morgan and Rev. Sherry Waters officiating .Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of East Funeral Home-Moores Lane. The family will be at the home of Buddy and LeeAnn McCulloch.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Alliance, St Jude Childrens Research Hospital or Williams Memorial UMC music ministry.
