Mary Frances Lenora McConnell Turner, longtime resident of Forney, passed away March 16, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 11, 1928 in Ft.Worth to the late C.L. and Lura Elliott McConnell. Mary grew up on a farm in Gunter where she learned many things about farming-the most important lesson was that she wouldn’t do it for the rest of her life! As a young girl, Mary helped pick cotton and each night her chore was to milk the 13 cows. She was very skilled at baking and cooking and she taught her family how to bake cakes from scratch. She loved watching Dr. Quinn and reading her Bible when she wasn’t spending time loving her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Knowing what a blessing grandchildren were, Mary felt even more blessed when the great-grandchildren came along and she was able to spoil another generation. Mary was a devoted longtime member of First Baptist Church in Forney where she stayed very active in several activities until her health began to decline. A true Proverbs 31 woman, Mary will leave a legacy of serving to her family by setting the best example of serving her Lord and her family. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband John M. Turner, son Charles M. Turner, granddaughter Cheyenne Nicole Turner, sisters Johnnie Ruth McConnell, Bonnie Roberts and Marguerite Bell and brother James Paul McConnell. Mary is survived by her sons: James M. Turner and John Robert Turner; daughter in law, Delores Turner, granddaughters: Brittney, Tiffany, Ana and Amanda ; grandsons: John David and Ivan; 9 great grandchildren, sister, Kathryn Brown; sister in law, Jean McConnell as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday March 19, 2015 at First Baptist Church Forney with Rev. Jerry Griffin and Dr. Jimmy Pritchard officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Forney where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, John. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday March 18 at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Terrell.
