Julie Samples, of Elmo, passed away peacefully at her home on March 5, 2015. Julie was born in Dallas to Joe Aaron and Edna May Toland. Her mother preceded her in death along with her brothers, Clint and Wendell Toland and sister Nancy Heights. Julie was a woman who loved life and her family. She was always the one others could go to in order to get the best advice or get anything accomplished. She had initiative to be successful at any activity she put her mind to and many respected for her hard work ethic. She had many different interests which led her to have a varied and interesting work history including managing a restaurant, roofing, sheet-rocking, building and framing homes and, most recently, she drove a truck. All of these occupations were held right alongside her best friend and husband of 30 years, James Samples. Julie was the first to tell anyone that her least favorite place to be was anywhere without James and they were inseparable. With her driving taking her all over the country, she stayed in contact with family and friends using Facebook. Playing games was also a hobby of hers and when she was home, Julie was playing Nintendo and internet games to relax and have fun. A kind and loving as well as generous woman, Julie made sure that everyone she met knew how much she cared for them. Her easy smile, great sense of humor and fun personality made any who met her an instant friend for life. She will be truly missed. Julie is survived her beloved husband and soulmate whom she married on Aug. 13, 1984, James Samples of Elmo; children: Elvis Wayne Lair and wife, Chasiti, of Elmo, James Monroe Samples, Jr. and wife, Jessica, of Wills Point, Tony Ray Samples and wife, Cristina, of Terrell, Loretta Jean Connolly and husband, Anthony, of Terrell, Charlie Monroe Samples, II and wife, Amanda, of Terrell; many adopted sons and daughters who all added joy and happiness to her and James’ life which in turn created numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who will carry on Julie’s precious legacy. She is also survived by her father, Joe Toland and wife, Vera, of Terrell; siblings: Cindy Thomas, Odessa Chancellor, Joe Toland, Eric Toland, Tammy Soto, Brenda Klutts, and Lana McCoy, nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
