Tona Sue Joy

Tona Joy passed away at her home in Newburgh on Thursday November 17, 2022. She was the second of three children born on October 20th, 1947 to the late James and Dorothy Joy. Tona graduated from Garfield High School in Terre Haute, IN on June 11th, 1965 and started attending beauty school shortly after. She spent the next 45+ years transforming hair styles, building friendships and offering advice to the many customers who came to her. In 1990, she met the love of her life, Charlie Lewis and from there they built a happy life together including owning and operating their own company, C.W. Lewis Steel Erection for several years until their retirement. Charlie and Tona, along with their dog Ollie, spent the latter part of their life between Indiana and Florida where they enjoyed traveling, camping and their mutual love of Elvis Presley. On July 6th, 2022, she lost Charlie to a short battle with cancer. Also preceding her in death were her parents and sister Sheri Joy. She is survived by her daughter Amy Lasher (Faron), Step-Children Ryan Lewis (Kara), Shawn Lewis (Valerie), Michele Neely (Jason) along with seven grandchildren Kyle and Kelsie McWilliams, Evie Lasher, Ian, Elly, Ady and Harper Lewis, sibling Larry Joy and beloved dog, Ollie. She was laid to rest during a private ceremony in Terre Haute, IN on November 22nd, 2022.
