Mildred was a 1943 graduate of Garfield High School. She devoted her life to caring for her family as a homemaker. Mildred was preceded in death by her first husband, Harley H. Pell, Jr. after 50 years of marriage and by a step-son, Dennis K. Smith, Sr.
Mildred is survived by her husband of 28 years, Ronald K. Smith; daughter, Marilyn Friedman and husband Joseph of Santa Fe, NM; granddaughter, Carrie Hunt and husband, Daniel together with their children: Cassie, Devon, and Whitley; great-granddaughter, Wrenlee Ray Beaslee; grandson, Andrew J. Robinson and wife, Jessica of Vale, CO; a step-daughter, Ronda Nelson and husband John together with their children: Connor and Dane. Extended family include step-grandson, Dennis K. Smith, Jr., and wife Chelse, together with their daughter, Laklyn; step-granddaughter, Brook Blevins and husband Nicholas, together with their children: Jerome, Jordan, Jaxton, Jeron, and Jayse. Mildred also leaves behind a nephew, Carson Spitler, and a niece, Caroline Iwasiw.
Mildred was a past Queen of Bardoura Temple #23, Daughters of the Nile, past President of Terre Haute Women’s Department Club, and a member of Jerusalem Chapter #254 OES of West Terre Haute. She also attended Maple Avenue United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with rites performed by the Daughters of the Nile at 6 p.m. A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, at the funeral home with Reverend Laura McDonald of Maple Avenue United Methodist Church officiating.
