born in Sutherland Springs, Texas in 1926 to Luther Riley Stoker and Annie Lee (Johnson)
Stoker. Bill grew up in San Antonio, attending and graduating from Burbank High School.
Following graduation, Bill worked for Bell Telephone Company, where he met his first wife and
mother of his two children, Craig and Luan, Barbara Allen McVay Stoker. Working full time for
the telephone company and raising his family, Bill also attended college at night, eventually
graduating from St. Mary’s University with a BS degree in economics. Bill accepted a position in
sales with Texaco where he began a successful career in sales and marketing, eventually
retiring after 30 years of distinguished service and moving to Temple, Texas.
Bill was preceded in death by his son, William Craig Stoker and his first wife, Barbara Allen
McVay Stoker. He is survived by his second wife of of 26 years, Peggy Leonard Stoker of
Temple, Texas. Also surviving is his daughter - Luan Stoker Carlton and his son-in-law -
Andrew Carlton of Lohn, Texas. Bill had two grandsons, Andrew Craig Stoker of Albuquerque,
New Mexico; and William Trent Stoker of Norman, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Virginia
Allen (Carlton) Moore of Brady, Texas &; Ruthann (Carlton) Riggs of South Carolina and six
adoring great-grandchildren.

William Luther Stoker was proud of his Wilson County (Sutherland Springs) Texas roots, an Air
Force veteran, a traveling man, a lifelong member of the Methodist church and after his
marriage to Peggy Leonard, achieved his life long dream of owning a small cattle ranch in her
hometown of Lohn, Texas where he tended his herd during his “Golden Years.” Rest in Peace
weary traveler!
