Dr. Thomas E. Griffin (Pappie, Tom, Tommy, Dr. G), age 71 or Troy, died of Glioblastoma (brain cancer) on January 4, 2022, on Griffin Ranch in Troy, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, S. Gayle Griffin, of Troy, Texas; his son, Joshua T. Griffin of Troy, Texas; granddaughters, Alexia Martin, Tatum McFarland, Riley Grace Griffin, Ryder Cayleigh Griffin, and Aubrey Taylor Griffin of Texas; brother, George Griffin and his wife Vicky of Pickens, S.C.; sisters, Jane Banks and husband Calvin of Pickens, S.C. and June Latimer and husband Joe of Honea Path, S.C.; Trent Cates “Radar” of Troy, Texas, Kellyjean Hayes of Troy, Texas, and extended families Pat and Earl Reynolds, Debbie and Tony Garrett, Sheri and Hal Wingo, Bill and Sharon Nalley of S.C., plus many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Griffin of Pickens, S.C. his mother Catherine Griffin of Pickens, S.C.
Dr. Griffin was born on May 12th, 1950 in Pickens S.C., to parents Robert and Catherine Griffin. He graduated from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida with a Doctoral Degree in Business Administration. He facilitated online classes in multiple universities. A few of the Universities he taught at were Nova Southeastern University, Southern New Hampshire University, University of Phoenix, Ohio Christian University, and Columbia International University.
He was a social, active man who was deeply involved in family and mentoring students in furthering their education for the majority of his life.
A memorial service, with military honors, will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, January 8, 2021 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given in Dr. Griffin’s name to Baylor Scott and White Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
