Leonard Reed (Pat) Patterson Obituary Leonard Reed (Pat) Patterson, age 91, of Temple, died Thursday, March 17, 2016, in a local hospital. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, March 21st, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Jonathan Mellette officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Sunday, March 20th, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Pat was born June 9, 1924, in Mobile, Alabama, to Leonard Reed Patterson, Sr. and Eva Virginia Patterson. He graduated from high school in Houston and participated in college courses there. He served 3 years in the U. S. Navy, and was promoted to Boatswain's Mate Second Class, being honorably discharged in 1945. He met Norma Faye Wilson in Houston and they were married on January 11, 1947, where they continued their lives together. He co-owned Petro-Chemical Solvents in Houston for a number of years, moving to Temple in 1961, to begin a new business, Tem-Tex Solvents Corp. He operated Tem-Tex Solvents Corp. with his wife, Norma, until retiring in 1991. He was a member of Oak Park United Methodist Church in Temple, participating in the Methodist Men's Group. He and his wife were members of the Cotillion in Temple, enjoying many dances with longtime friends. Other organizations in which he was a member were the Karem Shrine and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed working in his workshop, making different wood creations, especially those to celebrate holidays. He greatly enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren, sharing in their interests. Survivors include his children, Tricia Jones of Temple; Sandy Franz and son-in law Jon Franz of Horseshoe Bay; Doug Patterson and daughter-in-law Diane Patterson of Sunnyvale; grandchildren, Keith Honeycutt of Temple, Rebecca Milligan and husband, Chris Milligan, also of Temple, Nick Franz of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Mitchell Patterson of Dallas, Brittany Curtis and husband, Ryan Curtis of Sunnyvale; great-grandchildren, Grayson Honeycutt of Temple, Catherine and Grant Milligan, also of Temple, Braden Curtis and Dylan Curtis of Sunnyvale, and Johnny Jones, a loving part of Pat’s life. Memorial donations may be made to Oak Park Methodist Church, 5505 S. 31st Street, Temple, TX 76502.
