Ms. Young died Saturday in a Belton Living Center.
Ms. Young was born in Temple April 12, 1948 to Ira Benton Young, Sr. and Frances Lorene Northen Young. She graduated from Temple High School, Temple College, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor with a BA in English and Speech and from Baylor University with an MS in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She lived in Austin, Dallas, Waco, Georgetown, Round Rock, Enterprise, Alabama and returned to Temple four years ago. She was a Speech Therapist in McLennan County Co-op and Temple schools, taught Speech at Temple College, and English in Salado and Georgetown. She taught conversational English to international wives of UT students for 25 years at Friendship International at Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin and to international women at First Baptist Church of Round Rock. She served as a tour guide at Sun City Georgetown for 2 years. She attended First Baptist Church in Belton when she returned to this area. She traveled to Brazil on short-term mission trips and loved the Brazilian people and amazed at how God used her to lead them to faith in Him. She also made mission trips to Mexico and Belize. She loved animals of all kinds, especially dogs.
Ms. Young wanted all her family to know Jesus as their Savior so they could spend eternity together in heaven.
Survivors include her brother Ira B. Young, Jr. and his wife Janice of Temple; her uncle Tom Northen of Georgetown, cousin Margaret Ann Scott and her husband Danny of Belton and many nieces and nephews.
