John Eric Knox, 57, of Little River-Academy, Texas, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, March 30, 2025. He was born on April 2, 1967, in Frankfurt, Germany, to Arlin Western and Ingrid Helga (Mayer) Knox.
John was a remarkable person who made a big impact on those around him. John’s love for his family and friends, combined with his genuine warmth and humor, truly set him apart. John graduated from Copperas Cove High School in 1986. Working at Wilsonart, McLane’s, PFG, and HEB, he built a career that likely brought him a lot of fulfillment, especially with his role as a fleet driver. It’s the kind of legacy that speaks to a life well lived—one that will be remembered with fondness and admiration by all who knew him.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Ruthann "Ruthie" Knox of Little River-Academy, Texas whom he married on August 11, 2016, in Belton, Texas. He is also survived by his daughter, Devan Ann Knox of Temple, Texas; granddaughters, Riely and Brynlie of Temple, Texas; and grandsons, Grant, Jack, and Mark Secrest of Johnson City, Texas; Stepdaughter, Mary Secrest, and her husband, Stephen, of Johnson City, Texas; his parents; siblings: brother Mike Arlin and wife Jeanette Knox of Belton, Texas; sister Becky Jewell and husband Jerry of Kempner, Texas; brother Buddy Knox and wife Leshia of Little River-Academy, Texas; and sister Shirley Wilson of Belton, Texas; nieces and nephews, Jay Knox and wife Pam of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Leah Dildine and husband Jason of Salado, Texas, Corey Jewell and wife Angel of Leander, Texas, Matthew Jewell and wife Cindy of Kempner, Texas, Casey Jewell and wife Brittany of Kempner, Texas, Kyle Knox of College Station, Texas, Lexi Wilson of Idaho, great-nieces and great-nephews, Braylee, Jackson, and Carter Knox of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Kynlee, Brayden, and Kase Dildine of Salado, Texas, Olive, Aydan, Autumn, and Nathan Jewell of Leander, Texas, Ashton, Maddox and Truett Jewell of Kempner, Texas, Bailey, Saydee, Avery, and Hannah Jewell of Kempner, Texas, Koda, Addie, and Auctavia, and his dog Creed, whom he lovingly called “creedy weedy”
He was preceded in death by his nephew, Richard Wilson.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, with a visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Jay Knox, Corey Jewell, Matthew Jewell, Casey Jewell, Kyle Knox, Philip Williams, and Tim Clifton.
John will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
