Memorial services for Gary Wayne Lock, 70, of Rogers and Lake Buchanan will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Schram officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. at Tow Cemetery. Mr. Lock died Sunday at his residence. Mr. Lock was born in Temple Nov. 17, 1944 to G.W. Lock and Annie Mae Chudej Lock. He graduated from Temple High School. He married Carol Frits of Rogers and they were married for 52 years. He worked for Safeway Stores in the meat department and became the manager before retiring. He started his Taxidermy business in Houston and later moved to Rogers and was in business for 35 years. He also guided Striper fishing on Lake Buchanan and Hybrid fishing on Lake Belton. He and Carol traveled around several states, fishing in tournaments for Stripers in which they always placed or won. His boat was called Sea Perch and all the fishermen knew the call of Sea Perch. The most famous saying in the Texas circuit was "if you can beat Sea Perch you could win it." He retired from his taxidermy profession in 2007, which he hated to do, but he and Carol purchased a motor home and traveled the United States. He loved to go sightseeing and exploring. Everyone knew that his favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing. After retirement he said his hunting would be cut down so he and Carol took up golfing at the age of 65. Gary said he couldn't hunt animals any more but he could hunt golf balls. He said it was amazing what could be discovered in the bushes off the fairway. Mr. Lock was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Terry and George Lock. Survivors include his wife Carol Lock of Rogers and Lake Buchanan; one son Greg Lock and his wife Jill of Temple; and two grandchildren Jacqueline and Jon Lock of Temple. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
