Connie Howell passed peacefully Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at her home surrounded by family in Troy, TX. She was born to the late Joe and Minnie King Farrell on November 27, 1944. Connie graduated from Temple High School. She spent the first part of her career as a secretary and bookkeeper for Bradshaw Pumping, Lamberth Oil and Whited Oil. The end of her career was spent serving as a court clerk to the Troy Municipal Court until she retired, as she carried and upheld a sense of responsibility to provide for her family. She was a Baptist. Connie took pride in the comforts of home and her flower gardens. She taught that sometimes silence can speak volumes. The tedious hard-work, patience, nurturing, love and time that’s required to grow any living thing is a powerful lesson of trials, and adversity, but by being thankful to the Lord through it all, will bring beauty peace and satisfaction in seeing the results of your labor come to bloom. As you look at the flower gardens it’s almost like seeing God, it bloomed through his sun, grew in his sod and whispered “A Voice from Above” that seemed to bring heaven a bit closer. We wish we had more time, and the time we had we spent more together, but we are grateful her struggles are at an end and she’s at peace. Never complaining, maintaining brave and strong willed was one last gift of how strong one mother, wife, grandmother, aunt and lady could be, even in her weakness. Connie was preceded in death by her daughter Theresa Eaton and grandson Garrett Eaton. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years Jim Howell, a brother, Ronnie Farrell of Temple, two sons, Brad Eaton and Bobby Eaton, a daughter, Tina Eaton and eleven grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Bellwood Memorial Park with Pastor Robert Whitefield of Leon River Cowboy Church of Eastland, Texas officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 – 7:30 PM Tuesday, January 17th at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
