Mr. Roberts was born in Romayor, Texas to Beatrice Leviness Roberts and Charley Richard Roberts. He is survived by his daughter Tammy Pierce; grandsons Shay Pierce, Bradley Pierce and his wife Cindy and their 11 children, Leah, Alamo, Evie, Jim, Faye, David, Mary, Zeke, Rosie, Caleb and Sabina - ages 12 to 2 months. He earned many lifelong friendships.
Billy served in the Army and then overseas with the Air Force as a Medic in Tokyo during the Korean War and worked 30+ years as a telephone systems installer in Houston, Texas until his Retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman and hunter.
At age 56 he joined Alcoholics Anonymous to successfully overcome severe alcoholism, and then mentored many others on their path to freedom during his 36 years of sobriety. He also gave his heart to Jesus Christ that same year, and has lately been longing to go be with Him.
He loved his birthplace of East Texas and moved back there after his retirement, until Alzheimer’s stole away his cherished independence.
A funeral service for Mr. Roberts will be held at 12:30pm Monday, February 26, 2024 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at 3:00pm at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas. The family will receive visitors from 11:30am - 12:30pm prior to the funeral service.
