Barbara Jane Valley (Janie) age 92 of Temple, Texas passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024. Barbara, lovingly known as BJ, was the daughter of William R. Walls and Emma L. Walls of San Antonio, Texas.
BJ attended schools in San Antonio and graduated from Our Lady of the Lake High School in 1950. She attended Draughon’s Business College in San Antonio, Texas. She met a young pilot in training at Randolph Air Force Base, Gerald A. Valley and they married June 9, 1951. Together they had six children and settled in Temple in 1961. Besides being an amazing cook, BJ was involved in many school and church activities at St. Mary’s as her children grew up. She was involved in the Pro-Life activities and was a strong volunteer in the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) at the church. She took great pleasure in participating in all her children’s activities in church and school
BJ was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerald, sons Matt and Damian Valley, daughter Kim Dye, and grandson Ryan Lange.
BJ is survived by her son Mark Valley of Austin Texas, daughters Christine Lange of Temple Texas and Nancy Holder of Belton Texas. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Justin Lange, Nick Dye, Brian Turnley, Rich Piper, Blake Hajda and Shaun Allen.
A funeral mass will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Temple Texas. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
