A Celebration of Life Service for Arch C. Koontz, Jr., age 82, of Temple, will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 10 am, at Soldiers of the Cross Cowboy Fellowship, 14788 FM-439, Nolanville, Texas 76559. There will be a time of visitation beginning at 9 am.
Mr. Koontz died Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at his residence.
Arch Corley Koontz, Jr. was born on September 30, 1941 in Refugio, Texas to the late Arch Corley Koontz, Sr. and Nora Young Koontz. He attended school in Woodsboro, Texas and graduated from Woodsboro High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from Baylor University and also did post graduate work at Washington University in St. Louis and at the University of Texas in Austin. Arch taught biology at Temple College for many years. He was personnel manager at WilsonArt before he left to teach biology again, retiring from UMHB after 10 years. He owned and operated A&C Firearms in Heidenheimer for 27 years. He was a member of Soldiers of the Cross Cowboy Fellowship in Nolanville. Arch married the former Linda Gail Fletcher on July 5, 2002. Mr. Koontz was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Lucille Koontz Morris.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Koontz; his son, Arch (Trey) Corley Koontz, III; a daughter, April Dawn Koontz Goplen and a step-son, Jeffrey Clinton Benavidez; two sisters Jane Koontz Rainey and Mary Ann Koontz Leach; and a brother John Koontz.
