Patrick Robert Fitzgerald passed away at his home on April 17, 2015. Pat was born May 30, 1938 in Lorain, Ohio. After graduating from Lorain High School he attended Otterbein College from 1956-58. At Otterbein, Pat met his future wife, Jane and was a member of Zeta Phi fraternity. In 1958 he transferred to the University of Florida where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity, played intermural baseball and worked as a meat salesman to sororities and fraternities. After graduating in 1961 with a degree in marketing he went to Ft. Jackson, SC, for basic training in the US army. He was called to active duty during the Berlin crisis and served at Fort Sill, OK, for the following year. After returning from Oklahoma, Pat joined a family business, R.A. Harrell, Distributors in Tampa and worked to expand the sales territory throughout the Central Florida area. He served as President of the company from 1971-1990. During this time Pat was an elder at the Temple Terrace Presbyterian Church, and served on the boards of Tampa Sports Club and Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club. Throughout his life Pat enjoyed playing golf and was an avid sports fan who enjoyed cheering for his home teams, especially the Tampa Bay Rays. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jane; children: Susan Carter (John), Katy Ricci (Dan); grandchildren: Patrick and Chayce. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Temple Terrace Presbyterian Church, 1pm. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (wagehope.org).
