Nellie H. Sluis

Nellie was born July 9, 1932, in Pipestone County, Minnesota, the daughter of Cornelius and Mary DeGroot.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Virgil W. Sluis; her daughter, Rose Mary Spivey; and her son, Lou Alan Sluis. Survivors include her daughters, Connie M. Smith, Elsie A. Cooney and Catherine Westmoreland; her brother, Harold DeGroot (Lorraine); her sister, Alvina Vander Sluis Brouwer; grandchildren, William Spivey, Larry Ross Smith, Jr. (Nicole), Lori Avamarie Smith-Hill (Matthew), Jon Cooney (Heather), Cian Westmoreland, Chris Cooney and Caitlyn Grosse (Matthew); great-grandchildren, Ross Phillip Smith, Cole Justin Smith, Diana Elise Grosse and one on-the-way; and many loving nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Nellie will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 10-11 AM at Blount & Curry, Terrace Oaks Chapel followed by a funeral service at 11 AM. Interment at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
