She moved to New York City, worked as a live in housekeeper on Long Island. When she had the weekend off, she would go to the City to spend time with friends. On one such occasion, she met a young handsome Wilmont McFadden.
Wilmont and Lillie married on April 2, 1960. The death of her mother at age 16 pushed Lillie to be the best mother and wife she could be. She became their best friend. They could feel free to talk about anything with her. Even to the very end of her life she knew what was going on in each of her children’s life. She had a sixth sense, a “Lillie sense.”
At one point in her life she realized she needed help to cope with life. When Mamie Rhodes offered her a Bible study, she accepted it and with it came a lifelong friendship. Lillie was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Active in the ministry. She became a full time volunteer Bible teacher for many years.
She worked as an assistant teacher with handicapped children.
She loved to cook and entertain. She was well known for her hospitality. If she tasted a wonderful meal, she would cook it at home until she perfected it. It didn’t matter the cuisine, Chinese Italian, French, Baked Goods. She began catering weddings with her friends, The Five of Us.
Lillie loved first of all her God Jehovah, her family, her friends and she loved traveling and driving.
Lillie and her husband moved to Florida. It was a difficult move because she was a New Yorker through and through. But she grew to love Florida and got used to wearing her shorts and skinny jeans.
