Farmer, Charles P., of Salem, SC, passed away peacefully at the Blue Heron Assisted Living Memory Care in Wesley Chapel, FL., on September 14, 2024. Survived by his daughter’s Faye Reichert, Tampa, Linda Farmer, Springhill, FL, son, Tom Farmer, Wesley Chapel, Fl and Nephew, Tim Mayfield, Greer, SC.
Charlie was born in Greenville, SC, Jan. 9th 1934. Starting from an early age, he and his two brothers and sister worked the family Farmer Farm. At the age of 18 he enlisted and served 4 years with the United States Air Force, stationed at MacDill AF base, Tampa, FL, as an Airman 1st Class.
After his service, he was employed by Tampa Electric Company, as a Power plant Mechanical Technician and Supervisor of the stack system, retiring in 1988.
In Florida, he married, Ellen Gunn, had three children, settling down in Forest hills, FL., then moving to Lutz, FL in 1965. Charlie was an outdoors enthusiast. His favorite hobbies were, bowling, attending the Stock Car Races, flying remote control planes, skiing, fishing and boating on Lake Commiston in Lutz and the Gulf of Mexico.
Eventually moving back to his home state, South Carolina, he settled down in Salem. Becoming an avid bird watcher, with a special love for Hummingbirds and Blue Birds. While there he continued farming and canning his own vegetables, building and flying remote control planes, belonging to the Oconee Eagles R/C Flying club, woodworking, fishing and giving tours to friends and visitors, of the nearby scenic Lake Jo Cassey, as Captain of his Pontoon boat.
Charlie was a good ole boy, with always a story to tell. Loved by his family and many friends.
