Leroy O. Olbrich passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24th, 2020 in Round Rock, Texas and he is now in the arms of God. He was born in Thorndale, Texas on July 27, 1934 to Oswald and Henrietta (Simank) Olbrich. Leroy was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale, Texas in 1947 and later became a member of First United Methodist Church in Taylor, Texas. He graduated from Thorndale High School in 1951 and loved his Bulldogs and all his animals. He stole the heart of Charlene Tunstall and they were married in 1954. Leroy served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He worked at Ideal Motor Co. for 5 years and then Alcoa for 38 years. He was a member of United Steel Workers of America and was awarded the Thorndale Bulldogs Top Dog in 2003.
Leroy was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Ewald, Freddie, Howard, Marvin, and 1 sister, Eleanor Olbrich Lehman. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 + years, Charlene Tunstall Olbrich, one son, Jeffrey Lee Olbrich and his fiancée Paula Eifert, a sister, Laura Belle Olbrich Patschke, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great- great nieces and nephews, plus many wonderful neighbors and friends. Visitation will be Sunday, June 28, 2020 from 2 to 4 pm at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas. A private funeral service for family will be Monday June 29, 2020 at 10 am at Condra Funeral Home Chapel in Taylor, Texas with burial to follow at Thorndale City Cemetery in Thorndale, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish can make donations to the Thorndale Ex-Students Association or the First United Methodist Church in Taylor.
