He was a proud 1951 graduate of Taylor High School. His work career started with Safeway Grocery store. He attended Durham Business College in Austin and worked at Hiltin-Manor Funeral Home. He then worked at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor as an ambulance driver. It was on an ambulance call, that led to Johns Community Hospital ER, where he met a cute little LVN, Martha Ann Voight. They married in 1953 and were blessed to be married 62 years until Martha passed away in 2016. In 1956, he attended the Texas DPS Law Enforcement Academy and for 3 years was assigned to Hondo, Tx. He returned home to Taylor and worked for his Father as a painter and wall-paper hanger in the surrounding area. In 1966 he began working for Taylor ISD as head of the Maintenance Department. In 1969, he went to work for Alcoa Aluminum Plant in Rockdale and retired from there in 1995. After retirement, he and Mom moved to the farm, raised cattle and enjoyed life. A lifelong dream.
