courageous battle with Leukemia.
She was born on December 29, 1944, in Terrell, Texas. Her mother Virginia Jones died at an
early age and she was raised by her stepmother, Vicki Miekow, her mother's sister.
Carol graduated from Eagle Lake High School, then Austin Community College and finally
received her MBA from the University of Texas. Throughout college she worked at the Texas
School of the Deaf. After graduation she displayed a savvy business sense with a keen insight
for finance. Her career path led her through years at Tracor, Texas Worker's Commission, then
Hutto and Copeland Independent School Districts as a Special Education Instructor. Carol
showed her true grit for many years as a single mom raising two busy boys. Through a mutual
friend she met Dennis McDaniel and they were married in 1991.
Traveling to new places in their camper, reading and live blue grass music festivals were just a
few of her varied interests. She also loved time spent on her back porch with a cold drink,
Dennis and dear friends. Her true passion and delight were her grandchildren. It was easy to
see by the way she got down on the floor, played and laughed with them. At the very end and
most importantly, though, she professed her love for Christ.
Mrs. McDaniel is survived by her husband of 25 years, Dennis McDaniel; 2 sons and their
spouses, Joseph and Robyn Piotrowski, Casey and Jenny McDaniel; 6 grandchildren Jay,
Cline, Lincoln and Brynn Piotrowski, Case and Crew McDaniel; three sisters, Vicki Lee
Mascharka, Mary Rucker and Linda Andrew; 3 step-children, Eva McDaniel, Dena Wilks and
Lee McDaniel.
A celebration of Carol McDaniel's life will be held on Saturday, February 17, at 2:00 p.m., at the
Taylor SPJST Lodge 29.
