KING, William Sterling, 94, departed this life, Tuesday, October 26, 2021 to be with his LORD Jesus Christ. While he will be missed by his family and loved ones, there is no doubt that his life reflected his ultimate desire of oneness with God.
William retired from the Tampa Tribune after 40 years of service, he was past president of the International Mailers Union, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. William loved fishing, watching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Alabama Crimson Tide football. But most importantly was knife making.
He was preceded in death by his first and second wives, Flora Bell King and Jessie King. Survivors include his children, Richard Douglas King of California, William Sterling King Jr. of Sopchoppy, Fla., Katherine Marie King of Arizona, Michael Wade King of Zephyrhills, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Eric, Rick, Jaselyn, Christopher, Kimberly, Michael Joe, Shane, Kayla and many great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 East Lake Avenue. Interment to follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to North Boulevard Church of Christ, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Wounded Warrior Project, or Shriners Hospitals for Children in William's memory.
