William “Bill” Edward Davis passed on April 16, 2024, at the age of 80 years, in Tampa, Florida. Known most often as “Papa”, he was loved wholeheartedly by everyone that knew him. Bill made friends with everyone he met, was always ahead of his time, constantly thought about others, was a patient grandfather and great-grandfather, and always told the wildest (but true) stories. Originally from Burlington Vermont, he moved to Tampa in the 70s, worked as an electrician, and decided to raise his family, ultimately, in Cape Coral, Florida. He was the original Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan and spent most Saturdays in the fall watching his Florida Gators. He loved nature, animals, and jeopardy and was grateful for every day he spent on this earth. He was a trivia expert and had the most diverse knowledge base. He could spend hours reading or watching wildlife from his back porch. While a Vermont mountain man at heart, he also loved the ocean and would take any opportunity to boat and fish. He regularly reminded his family of the special things in life and was grateful for all the incredible changes he witnessed throughout his time, not only in society and technology, but also in politics and international matters. He imparted his wisdom effortlessly. Often a man of few words, when he did use them, they were profound (or witty and hilarious!). Bill is survived by his wife of 59 years: Lucille Davis; son and daughter: Bill Davis Jr. and Amy Davis; his brother: Steve Davis; his grandchildren: Tiffany, Timothy, Jackson, and Quinn; his great-grandchildren: Brice, Benjamin, and Brookelyn, along with countless friends and extended family. He will be greatly missed by everyone that loved him, but his impact on the world around him will survive not only through the memories and lessons he created, but also with the friendship and love that he instilled. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Tampa Bay Watch. https://tampabaywatch.org/
