Bill is survived by his two children, Wendy (Tom) Crippen Gilbert of Johns Creek, GA and Tracy Nicole Crippen O’Keefe of Valrico, FL; brother, Gilbert William Crippen of Newport News, VA; four grandchildren, John Zackary Gilbert, Lauren Elizabeth Gilbert, Ryan Patrick O’Keefe and Ashley Nicole O’Keefe; two nephews, Marc Alan Crippen and Matthew William Crippen. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lt. Col. Gilbert Snowden Crippen and Mrs. Virginia Jane (Carpenter) Crippen of Tampa, FL.
Bill was born on December 28, 1946 in San Mateo, CA to the late Lt. Col. Gilbert (Gil) and Virginia (Ginny) Crippen. He graduated from Robinson High School in 1966. He was married to the late Mrs. Nancy Lee (Dowell) Crippen of Tampa, FL, in 1969. Bill had a career in sales which provided many different experiences over the course of his life. He loved talking to and meeting people whom he developed lifelong friendships.
Bill was very active with an adult softball league for much of his life He enjoyed playing golf and watching tournaments in person or on television. He was a long-time season ticket holder of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and fan. In addition, he would follow and cheer on the Tampa Bay Rays and Lightning. He found happiness in sporting activities and events. Another passion of his was traveling with his friends to visit new places. Overall, Bill enjoyed life to the fullest and treasured his friendships along the way.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 2nd at 11am at Garden of Memories Cemetery, officiated by James Friesen, 4207 E. Lake Ave, Tampa FL 33610. The gravesite will be in the north section of the cemetery. Please follow the color that will be assigned on Tuesday and that will take you to the site
