William "Bill" Lawrence Walters

On Wednesday, December 7, 2022 William "Bill" Lawrence Walters Jr. passed away at the grand age of 93. He is survived by; his loving wife of 68 years, Ruth, hs only son William Walters, III, and his grandson Steven Walters.

William was a Tampa, Florida native born in the Seminole Heights area. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1952-1972, doing tours in Korea and Vietnam. He retired as Master Sergeant. While stationed in Germany, he met his loving wife Ruth Kathrina Heckmann, marrying her on November 13, 1954.

Once retired from the military, William worked to get his associates degree in teaching at USF. He was instrumental in opening the Automotive Technology Program at the Erwin Tech Center in 1980. He retired from teaching at Erwin on December 31, 1991.

Upon his second retirement, Bill enjoyed being outside in the warm Florida sunshine; working in the yard or enjoying his favorite past time with his grandson and friends- being out on the boat fishing for grouper.

William will be missed deeply by his friends and family

A visitation for Bill will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with funeral service 10AM on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610. A committal service with military honors will follow funeral service at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, Tampa, FL 33610.
