She was a wife, mother and homemaker. After the Tug River flood of 1977, Virginia and her Husband Luther, relocated with their family to Tampa, Florida.
She loved her family and many friends. She loved opening her home to everyone and always made sure that no one left hungry. It filled her heart with joy to have her family together. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She loved music, singing and serving in the local church. She served for many years in the choir, street ministry for the homeless, jail ministry, children’s ministry and shut in patients, as well.
She also sang with her husband in the Society for the Preservation of Early County & Western Music, Inc.
She loved to soak up the Florida sunshine, she lived life to the fullest for as long as she was able.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Luther Urah McCoy, Parents: Alexander Robinette, Lucy “Hester” Robinette Patterson, Wayne Patterson, Sons: Donald Jeff McCoy, David Lee McCoy, Gary Steven McCoy, Son-in-Law: Henry David Severance, and 10 brothers and sisters.
Virginia is survived by her Sons: Luther McCoy, Jr. (Linda), Terry Allen McCoy, Daughters: Janet Davis (Lowell Topsy), Angela Knotts (Bill), Jennifer Troughton (Jason), Grandchildren: Joshua Troughton, Jonathan Troughton, Ryan McCoy, Dara Young (Rusty), Chrisina Davis, Kimberly Davis, Mandie Hartford (Kevin), as well as great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this time. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a date to be determined at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home, 25062 US Hwy 119, Belfry, KY 41514. Interment to follow at McCoy Cemetery in Burnwell, Kentucky.
