Susan was born in Minneapolis, MN to Alfred and June Wolf on April 2nd, 1954. She went to primary school in Edina, MN before moving to Ft. Lauderdale with her parents in 1965 where she attended Rickards Jr High and graduated from Northeast High School. She married Thomas E Johnson on June 5th, 1976, in Ft. Lauderdale. She graduated from Palm Beach Jr College as a Dental Hygienist, the The University of South Florida with a degree in English and earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Vermont College. She was an adjunct professor for the University of South Florida for 13 years.
She further pursued her true passion of writing and grew to become an accomplished author, publishing numerous highly awarded short stories and a novel, King Daniel.
Susan was the brightest, most elegant light in every room she entered and was a loving mother to her two children and Nana to three grandchildren. Her excitement for reading, writing, exercise, dance and hiking was amazing. She searched endlessly to always become the most compassionate person for herself, family and friends. Always entering the room with "Hello Hello", a happy person who was adored by all who knew her.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents Alfred and June Wolf, her brother Fred Wolf; her brothers-in-laws Sandy Johnson, Al Grundstrom and Frank Loesche and mother-in-law Harriet Johnson.
Susan is survived by her husband Tom Johnson; her son and his wife Erik and Karri Johnson; daughter and her husband Lisa and Eric McCarthy; sister Janet Witte, and brother and his wife James and Debbie Wolf; sister-in-law Shirley Wolf; nieces and their husbands Barbara and Chris Casey, and Crissy and Kevin Voightman; nephews Jeffrey Wolf and his wife Rosie, Byron Wolf and his wife Lori, Michael Wolf, Bradley Wolf and his wife Mary; grandchildren Tori, Taylor and Kate.
A family only service was held on Monday, February 13, 2023 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Tampa.
A celebration of her life will be held on April 7 in the afternoon at Avila Golf and Country Club in Tampa.
