Dr. Stephen A. Stefano was born in Springfield, MA. to Joseph and Lorraine on April 8,1952. He went to school at West Springfield High School. He graduated from Springfield Technical College, Westfield State College and the University of Bologna, Italy. He worked as an Emergency Room Doctor and Internist for Bay State Medical Center, AFC Urgent Care in Springfield, MA. and Tampa General Hospital before opening his own practice, Main Street Medical in Tampa. Stephen was board certified physician specializing in pain management and addiction medicine. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of The American Board of Internal Medicine, The American College of Emergency Physicians, The American Society of Addiction Medicine and The American Psychiatric Association. He received the President’s Award for Outstanding Achievement while in college.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Vincent R. Stefano.
Stephen is survived by Joseph C. Stefano, Anthony T. Stefano, Nancy E. Stefano, Gina M. Stefano, Lisa A. Fiorini, several nephews and nieces and several great nephews and nieces.
A visitation will be held from 3pm to 5pm Tuesday, February 8, 2022 with a service to start at 5pm at Blount and Curry Funeral Home, 3207 W. Bearss Ave., Tampa, Florida 33618.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Friday, February 11, 2022 with a service to start at 11:00am at Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield, MA followed by an interment at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker Street, Springfield, MA.
Memorials may be given to The ALS Association, www.als.org, United Cerebral Palsy www.ucp.org and The Childhood Leukemia Foundation www.cedars-sinai.org.
