Steve was born in Newcastle, Indiana on January 31, 1962 and was raised by his loving parents, Steve and Judy Trombly in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts. He graduated from Fitchburg State College and played quarterback for their football team. After moving to Florida, he married the love of his life, Denise Himes, on July 31, 1992. Their son, Tyler Jacob Himes, was born on October 31, 1994 in Tampa. Steve and Tyler were avid Bucs and Florida State fans. Their favorite place to be was together, at a sporting event. Steve loved his family more than anything and enjoyed spending his free time with his wife and son.
Steve spent ten years as an educator and served as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Gaither High School in Tampa, where he led one of the premier high school basketball programs in the region. In 1999, Steve began his career in the real estate industry, where he provided superior service to residential clients while creating multiple commercial real estate opportunities for the company. After 15 years, he joined the team at Berkshire Hathaway, where he remained for the rest of his career. He was a former president of the Tampa Bay Basketball Coaches Association and served as a mentor for All Sports Community Service. He served on the Leadership Tampa Bay Board for ten years, chairing numerous events and committees and was the LTB Chair for the Class of 2018.
Steve is preceded in death by his beloved stepfather, Stephen Trombly.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife, Denise Himes, his loving son and daughter-in-law, Tyler and Jamie Himes, his brothers, Jason and Jonathan Trombly, his sister, Kerri Hernandez, his mother, Judy Trombly, and his father, Stephen Himes.
Visitation services will be held from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home in Carrollwood.
The Himes family gratefully declines flowers, but prayers, condolences, and memories are gladly accepted. Donations may be made in his honor to the charity of your choice.
