Sarah Anne Troy

Sarah Troy (Huerkamp), 58 , a longtime resident of the Tampa Bay Area, passed away Sunday May 10th, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Sarah was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on New Year’s Day 1957. She was predeceased by her mother Katie Huerkamp, her father Leo Huerkamp, her sister Ellen Norden, and brother-in-law, Doug Pirc. Sarah is survived by her loving husband Brian (32 years), her son Brian (Sofia), her daughter Jennifer, sister Susan Hepfinger (John), brother Daniel Huerkamp (Sue), brothers-in-law Patrick Troy and Jon Norden, sisters-in-law Mary Ellen Troy, Loretta Pirc, and Virginia Troy, mother-in-law Marion Troy, in-laws Bernardo, Monica, and Luis Perez de Lara, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Sarah and her family moved from Chicago to settle for 28 years in Brandon, Florida in 1987. Her family was her life, and for almost 20 years she was a stay-at- home mother dedicated to raising her children. She was the ultimate team mom for countless soccer teams, and favorite room mother to many classrooms. After a few brief years as a substitute teacher, Sarah joined the faculty at Bing Elementary School in Tampa as a full time teacher to many young children in the first and second grades. Over the past 8 years, she served as a role model and positively impacted the lives of many of these young children. She dedicated countless hours to planning and delivering the finest education to all of her students in these critical formative years of their educational and personal development. As she always led by example, Mrs. Troy was the ultimate mom and consummate school teacher to everyone that knew her. Visitation will be held on Saturday May 16th, from2:00-4:00pm at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave., Tampa, FL 33609. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home at 4:00pm immediately following visitation.
