Rubye Lott Yent, 97, of Tampa, FL died peacefully on Saturday, November 9, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Midland City, Alabama on February 21, 1927 and spent most of her childhood in Zephyrhills, FL. Upon graduation from High School, she was accepted into the Gordon Keller School of Nursing Program. She worked for several years at Tampa General Hospital, where she met and married Jack G. Yent.
Rubye was an active and loyal member of Downtown Tampa First United Methodist Church. She was a charter member of the Seminole Women’s Club and a member of the Lakewood Manor Garden Circle. She greatly enjoyed her summers in Highlands, NC and was a member of the Highlands Falls Country Club. She was a member of the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club, where she also enjoyed a fearless bridge game. Rubye won numerous awards for her quilting skills, was an avid reader and a great cook – yummy cinnamon rolls!!
She is survived by her 4 children: Debra (Robert) Toale, Sarasota; Jack G. Yent, Jr. (Rhonda) Homosassa, FL; Pamela Pursley, Tampa, FL; and Charles (Kandra) Yent, Tampa. Seven grandchildren: Jason (Susie) Toale, Jeff (Hannah) Toale, Sarasota; Justin Yent, Tampa, FL; Kristopher (Cheryl) Yent, Pittsburgh, PA; Kevin (Jenna) Yent, Greenville, SC; Kellen Yent, Washington, DC and Carlie Yent, Columbus, MS. 7 Great grandchildren: Claire, Hudson, Laurel and Cade Toale, Sarasota; Grace and Grant Toale, Sarasota; and Enzo Yent, Greenville, SC.
Private graveside services have been held at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park.
