Richard Henderson Lee, a retired court reporter and long-time resident of Tampa, died on August 4, 2022, at age 92. Richard was a graduate of Plant High School and the University of Tampa. He was a Naval Aviator on active duty from 1952 to 1956 and served an additional eight years in the active Naval Reserve while establishing a court reporting business in Tampa that he managed for over 40 years.
Richard was multi-talented and had a wide range of interests, including horticulture, woodworking, ham radio, music, winemaking and writing. He was skilled at repairing just about anything mechanical or electrical. Richard also loved the Spanish language and his many Spanish-speaking friends.
He is survived by Richard S. Lee and his wife Billie; Cynthia Lee Westergard; Warren A. Lee and his wife Erin; Gary M. Lee and his fiancée Laurie Spieler; Ashley Hutchens and her husband Norse; a sister, Diane Kemker; Joyce Bond, the mother of his children; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Florida National Cemetery (6502 S.W. 102nd Avenue Bushnell, FL 33513) at 2:30pm on Friday, August 26th, 2022. Those wishing to honor his life can donate in his name to the University of Tampa.
