Dick was born on April 10, 1952 in Hudson, Massachusetts to Peter and Mary Franchi. He grew up in Framingham, Massachusetts with his brother, Bob, and sister, Linda. As with most people who grew up near Boston, Dick was an avid Red Sox fan.
Dick married the love of his life, Denise, on August 19, 1978. Their love and endearment towards each other has been an inspiration for all of his children and their spouses.
Dick had a highly successful career selling enterprise computer systems and servers for various large computer companies such as Digital Equipment Corporation and IBM. He and his wife, Denise, were able to travel the world with Digital Equipment Corporation as he was perennially a top sales earner. Dick sold “the cloud” before putting things in the cloud was an everyday term.
Following his retirement, Dick began working with his oldest son, Billy, at Franchi Injury Law. Dick was the office manager and held the self-appointed title of Director of Meaningless Tasks. Dick loved this work as he very much enjoyed spending time with his son.
His family meant everything to him, and all of his family loved spending time with him. Family trips usually included several game nights, that would have everyone in hysterics in the way he would play the games, and lose so spectacularly, as if it was all for humor and everyone else’s enjoyment. Dick’s 17 minute speech at his daughter, Katherine’s, wedding, still provides much humor and happiness. Dick loved playing golf with his two sons, Billy and Michael, and his closest friends. Dick and Denise thoroughly enjoyed the Florida lifestyle, making several trips to the beach, the horse track, and walks in this tropical paradise.
Dick’s grandchildren were so deeply loved by the Best Papa Ever. Papa would do and play anything with his three grandchildren.
Dick never seemed to have a bad day. Any time you talked to him, he was always upbeat and genuinely interested in anything you had to say. That held true for family, friends, and those who had fleeting moments with him.
Dick will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Especially, his wife of 44 years, Denise, his children, Billy, Michael, and Katherine, and their spouses Daryll, Tiffany, and Thomas. Dick loved his grandchildren, Will and Luca (Billy and Daryll) and Kairi (Michael and Tiffany).
