81, of Tampa, Florida was called to his heavenly home on December 5, 2024.
Reverend Raul Fernandez was born on June 11, 1943, in Havana Cuba.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Rev. Fernandez served his country with honor during the Vietnam War Era with the 27th Infantry Regiment “The Wolfhounds”.
After his honorable discharge, he dedicated his life to serving the Lord, answering the call to ministry with a heart full of faith and devotion. For over 50 years, he faithfully shepherded congregations. With almost 40 years at Concord Baptist Church, touching countless lives with his wisdom, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the Gospel.
Beyond his ministry, Reverend Fernandez enjoyed Coaching Little League Baseball, training in Martial Arts and spending time outside under his mango tree.
Reverend Fernandez is survived by his children Raul Corbin, Ryan (Penny), and Ronald (Jenny), his grandchildren Krista Machin (CJ), Ryan Chanler (Tania), Racheal Colburn (Austin), Robert, Riley, Cicily, six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Barbara Ann Fernandez. His family takes comfort in the promise of eternal life, knowing that he is now rejoicing in the presence of the Savior he so faithfully served.
A celebration of Reverend Fernandez’s life and ministry will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 11:00am at Concord Baptist Church, 2224 Corrine Street, Tampa FL 33605 with a Military Graveside Service at 2:00pm at Garden of Memories, 4207 E Lake Ave. Tampa FL 33610.
