Paul was born on September 16, 1931, to Okey and Effie Withrow in Charleston, West Virginia. With only an eighth-grade education, Paul successfully occupied a position in the United States Army. He served his country during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. After his military service, Paul worked as an auto parts salesman, earning many awards and commendations. He also worked and retired from a warehouse distribution plant.
Paul married Virginia Ellen McGraw on January 12, 1957. They welcomed their one and only child, Paul Martin "Marty" Withrow, later that same year.
Paul was a member of the Fowler Avenue Baptist Church where he served faithfully for over 50 years. Much of that time was spent as Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon. He always loved to meet missionaries that came to town and made sweet friendships with many of them. He was loved and cherished by his pastor and church family.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings, and his beloved wife, Ellen. He is survived by his brother, Charlie Withrow of West Virginia, his son, Marty and daughter in law, Jill, four grandchildren, Cindy (Danny), Holly (Michael), Tim (Danielle) and Lory (Josh), and ten great-grandchildren, Hayden, Grayson, Sophia, Carson, Jonah, Haven, Laelynn, Zeke, Cohen and Aiden.
A visitation for Paul will be held Friday, August 16, 2024 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. A funeral service will occur Friday, August 16, 2024 at 10:30 am at Fowler Avenue Baptist Church, 6161 E Fowler Ave, Temple Terrace, FL 33617. A committal service will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa, FL 33610.
