Patricia Daniel Pead

Patricia Daniel Pead peacefully transitioned to heaven on May 9, 2024, at the age of 73, with loved ones by her side. She was a devoted wife, proud mother, caring sister, and loyal friend to all who were privileged to know and love her. She was the third child of Colonel Joseph Rowan Daniel of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Patricia Lifsey of Montgomery, Alabama. On March 3, 2024, she and her husband, David Pead, celebrated 40 years of marriage. They are long-time members of the Tampa community which they’ve called home along with their daughter, Mary Pat.

Patricia was born in Dayton, Ohio, and spent her childhood years in the locations of her father’s US Air Force assignments, including Istanbul, Turkey; Alexandria, Virginia; and finally, Tampa, Florida, when he assumed a position at MacDill Air Force Base in 1963. She attended James Monroe Junior High School, Robinson High School (Class of 1969), and graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Development from Florida State University in 1973.

Patricia was first employed at the Trust Department of First Florida Bank. Over her tenure, she served in the Audit Division and was promoted to Vice President, one of the first women to hold that role. She left her career for the most cherished role of her lifetime—being a mother. As the early 2000s approached, she donned her professional cap once again. In alignment with her college degree, she was a founding member of the early childhood learning center, Baby Bungalow, a part of the Champions for Children initiative. She became its Executive Director, growing an outstanding professional staff to serve six outreach centers in Hillsborough County.

Stewardship, mentorship, and community improvement have always held a special place in Patricia’s heart. She has been an active member of the Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church for over four decades. She was passionately involved in the church, serving as an Elder and Co-Chair of the Baptism Guild, as well as leading Bible study and organizing her Church Circle. Patricia was a member of the Junior League of Tampa and Kappa Delta Sorority, for which she enjoyed volunteering. Over the course of her involvement, she developed lifelong, precious friendships.

Grace, giving, and nurturing are terms synonymous with Patricia, as anyone who knew her would most certainly testify. Her commitment and loyalty to family and friends were evident in all her relationships. The world is a better place because she was here, and she will be sorely missed.

Patricia leaves many to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy, including: her husband, David Pead, of Tampa, Florida; her daughter, Mary Pat (Pead) Stafford, and her husband, Thomas, of Clearwater, Florida; brother Joe Daniel Jr., of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; brother Pope Daniel, of Brandon, Florida; along with beloved nephews, nieces, in-laws, and dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 24th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church (PCPC), 3501 W. San Jose St., Tampa, FL 33629 with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Patricia Pead Memorial Fund at PCPC.
