She was born on December 15, 1927, in Tampa, Florida, to parents Enrique and Teresa Lopez. Nora graduated from Jefferson High School in Tampa. After graduation she first worked for a local phosphate company and then had a long career as an administrative secretary with the Tampa law firm of Fowler-White. Nora married her husband, Woodrow Resch, on April 15, 1967, in Tampa. For many years, she was a devoted parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church, where she was a member of The Owls and volunteered in the church office. She later attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Nora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sisters, Freya Loe and Estelle Ramirez. She is survived by her brother, Henry Lopez of Tampa; her nieces and nephews – Darlene Kocher, Sharon Loe, Marlene Perez and Sonia Wohlmuth, all of Tampa; Ellen Mackinnon of Woodbridge, Virginia; Alan Loe of Battle Creek, Michigan; and Luis Ramirez of Nacogdoches, Texas; as well as her cousin, Marilyn Mancuso-Weekley of Tampa.
Nora grew up in the Ybor City community of Tampa. As a young and single aunt, she enjoyed entertaining and caring for her several nieces and nephews; they returned her love as well. Swimming at Clearwater Beach and going to Lowry Park Zoo were favorite activities, even into their adult lives. After establishing her career, Nora married her beloved “Woody” Resch, and her “kids” gained another uncle who also loved to have fun and enjoy life. They were married for fifteen years until his death in 1981. As she grew older graciously, and several of her nieces and nephews had children of their own, “Aunt Nora” took great joy in all these new kids. They also loved her. Nora had many friends at Christ the King Catholic Church and at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, as well as neighbors where she lived. She will be missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, Nora requested that donations be made to St. Patrick's Church or any charity of your choice.
