Marilyn “Jaye” Vega, born April 2, 1935, passed away at the age of 85 in the presence of her family on October 20th 2020, in Rockledge, Florida. Jaye was born in Anderson, Indiana and eventually moved to Tampa, Florida where she established her roots. Her love of traveling led her to a rewarding career with Eastern Airlines before retiring to spend time with her family in 1991. She then launched her second career in life, built upon an associate’s degree at Hillsborough Community College, which led her back to aviation: working with MacDill Air Force Base in their civil travel agency department.
She was preceded by her parents, Lawrence and Nondas Roberson; sister, Kay McLeod; grandson, Nicholas Lawrence Sauls. She is survived by her sister, Carroll Merriman; nephew, Rick (Aimee) Merriman; daughter, Michelle (Bill) Sauls; son, Larry Vega; grandson, Jake Sauls.
A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Friday October 23, 2020 in Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
