FALCON, Maria Eva, went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, May 9, 2022, after a long illness.at the age of 94. A resident of Tampa, FL for 43 years, she was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in South Tampa.
Eva, as everybody knew her, was born and raised in Orocovis, Puerto Rico. She later moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she married Elias Falcon in 1957. Eva was a skillful seamstress and enjoyed sewing dresses for her children and grandchildren, some even without a need for patterns. Eva enjoyed and had a green thumb for planting all kinds of fruit trees, flowers and herbs in her yard and then sharing her crops with friends and family. What brought her the most joy was cooking traditional Puerto Rican foods and having her children and their families over for Sunday dinners and she did so for many years before she fell ill. She will also be remembered for her daily devotions to the rosary.
Eva is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 33 years, Elias; parents, Cristina and Nicomedes of Puerto Rico; sister, Natividad; brothers, Felipe, Geronimo, German and Rafael.
Eva lives on in the hearts and memories of her children and their spouses, two daughters, Elisa (James) Leland, Lourdes (Robert) Blanchard; two sons, Jose David Falcon, Luis Armando (Deborah) Falcon; three granddaughters, Taylor (Josh) Shakespeare, Morgan (Max) Shelquist, Hailey (Dylan) Clark; great-grandchildren; three surviving sisters, Irma, Gladys, Yolanda; and her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wants to thank the staff of LifePath Hospice and Griswold Home Care for the care and support given to our beloved mother during the last stages of her illness.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. -12 p.m. at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, Tampa, Florida. A graveside service for Maria will be held 12:30 p.m. Tuesday May 17, 2022 in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa, Florida.
