OTERO, Margaret, 92, passed away Tuesday June 7, 2022 in Tampa, FL. Margaret was born on September 26, 1929 in Ybor City, Tampa to Luz De la Llana and Angel Fernandez of Asturias, Spain. She was the youngest of four children and attended school in Hillsborough County graduating from Hillsborough High School in 1948. On February 22, 1948, she married Charlie Otero who later became Tampa
Police Chief.
Margaret became a secretary for Hillsborough County Schools in 1965 and worked until she retired. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who lived her life with elegance and a beautiful sense of humor.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Charlie Otero, her brother Angel Fernandez, and her sisters Argentina Witherall and Lucy Rodriguez. Margaret is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law Charles Jr (Carolyn) and Ken Otero (Frances), her four grandchildren Lisa Otero Sullivan, Amy Otero, Kenny Otero, and Lauren Otero, and her seven great grandchildren Daniel, Zack, Angel, Hektor, Charlie, Maya, and Bella.
Visitation will begin at 10 am this Friday, June 10, 2022 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home - Carrollwood, 3207 W Bearss Ave in Tampa. Burial will follow at Centro Asturiano Cemetery 5400 E Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Tampa 33601
